I was told to uninstall and install again the leap motion controller setup because of the "It appears you have not installed any proprietary graphics driver from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel. Please download and install the appropriate driver for your graphics hardware, then click Retry to continue installation. If you skip this step, the Leap Motion Orientation and Airspace applications may default to the built-in Windows driver and not run properly" message but each time I re-install the error comes up again at the 20% of the installation.
My GPU is GeForce GTS 450 and is up to date with the driver version 327.23.
What can I do?

@Polonia it turns out we have a bug in the GPU check that hits systems like yours that say

Windows 7 Professional, 32-bit (Service Pack 1)

That is, our GPU check works okay on Windows 7 or 8 64-bit as it looks for nvd3dumx.dll, but not 32-bit (nvd3dum.dll). We'll have this check fixed in a future release.

However, there is a problem with your setup. The Pentium Dual T3200 is a Merom-based CPU, and does not meet our minimum requirement of a Core i3 or better. You can continue running this, but don't expect the greatest performance or reliability with the service or apps on Airspace Home.

@turmewr3ck and @xAmirKatzx : By any chance are you also running a 32-bit version of Windows? If so, it's fine to click "Ignore" for the GPU check until we fix this.

Regarding whether your graphics cards and graphics drivers are up to par: @xAmirKatzx, the GeForce GTS 450 is good enough to run most Airspace applications well. @turmewr3ck and @Polonia you may be somewhat limited with 256 MB of VRAM and GPUs based on the G92 architecture. Orientation tends to be more draining on those cards, but many of the apps in Airspace that run on the Unity engine should be fine.

I'm using Win 8.1 32-bit. In my case most things work fine.

I appreciate that you take time to fix the annoying message, and look forward to test it.

Sorry to revive this topic, but I just acquire a Leap Motion and I'm having this "Proprietary Graphics Driver" thing.
I have Windows 10 64 Bits and a MSI Nvidia GTX 970 as a Graphic Card with the latest driver available.

How could I have this error?

1 year later

I am using NVIDIA gforce 940mx and intel core i7 processor with intel HD graphics 620. When I try to run the setup I get error "It appears you have not installed any proprietary graphics driver from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel. Please download and install the appropriate driver for your graphics hardware, then click Retry to continue installation. If you skip this step, the Playground and Appstore applications may default to the built-in Windows driver and not run properly." I have all the latest version of graphics drivers installed.

I just installed the Leap Motion software on a new computer, with i7-700'HQ CPU, NVIDIA GeForce GTX1070 and Windows 10 Pro operating system.
When trying to install the V2 software version Leap_Motion_SDK_Windows_2.3.1 (it is the one that owrks fine in my other computer), I get the message indicated in the posts above "It appears you have not installed any proprietary graphics driver from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel...". If I omit this step, installation completes but the LeapMotion controller does not work at all. I made a successfull installation with Leap_Motion_Setup_4.0.0, but performance in "desktop mode" (that is the only mode I use Leap Motion) is poor, as adviced in the visualiser ("Orion performrs best in head-mounted devices). Any suggestion to make the 2.3.1 version working?

I have the same problem. Although 2 weeks ago everything worked, but now only Orion works.

Hello...

When I install leap motion SDK 2.3.1, I get the following warning:
"It appears you have not installed any proprietary graphics driver from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel. Please download and install the appropriate driver for your graphics hardware, then click Retry to continue installation. If you skip this step, the Leap Motion Orientation and Airspace applications may default to the built-in Windows driver and not run properly."

I ignore the message, but the driver don't recognize the leap motion.
My laptop have a NIVIDIA GTX 1060, version 417.01

Do you have a solution for this problem?

1 month later

Hi, i have the same problem installing the SDK 2.3.1.
My laptop is Lenovo with NVIDIA GTX 1050

1 year later

same problem here in 2020, why has noone answered in years? Do we all just have fancy useless silver bricks now?

Ignore this message.

Just in case the device is not recognized afterwards, go to the Leap Motion program files folder (something like C:\Program Files\Leap Motion\Core Services\Drivers), and execute the dpinst*.exe (depending on your system, x32 or x64), to install the remaining drivers and should work inmediatelly.

He probado ejecutar dpinst64... Y no funciona. Alguna idea más

Hi, I got the graphic driver error message while installing the leap motion controller software. I did also install the dpinst.exe 64 bit and brought it in a driver. but still got the graphic error message. i ignored and installed it but the app doesn't work well and seems not being detected by the graphic driver. please help! , Benyamin

Hi  I just got a leap motion controller. I installed and tried every version of the leap motion controller software, installed a graphic driver for Geforce experience on my windows 10. I get my hand tracked in the diagnostic visualizer in leap motion controller app, but when I come over vseeface it doesn't work. I also separated the leap motion controller's driver to universal serial bus controllers driver. it still can't detect the leap motion controller on the graphic driver somehow! I'll be very thankfull if you help me
