Using Leap Motion in Ubuntu

I am trying to use Leap in Ubuntu 18.04. I have tried everything I have found in forums. The only thing that will work is the visualizer. Leap Control Panel will not open and the device will not register as plugged into the computer. Can anyone help me figure this out?

I got this error:

[Critical] Unhandled exception: Failed to set Hardware property 'Sharpness' as a part of DeviceWrite.

However, the control panel and visualizer are opening and the Leadership Motion is recognized as being plugged into the computer so the OS progress. Did I miss something in setting things up? Have you heard of that happening? Any help would be appreciated.

When I checked the status, it logged:

Active: inactive (dead)

I tried to Recalibrate from the terminal which it opened and detected, but:

Failed to parse message from a zero-copy input stream

Update: I installed Leap-2.3.1+33747-x64.deb
The visualizer didn't work, I loaded leapd manually "sudo leapd", installed Leap-*-x64.deb again and now it works.

Glad to hear it! Does everything appear to be working for you now?

Yes, it is working. Now I can't find the config.json file to get a VM communicate with the host and allow for multiple Leap Motions to be used. I asked a new question here. Do you happen to know how to find that file?
