HP Envy 17, Embedded LEAP device "Disconnected"

I have a HP Envy 17 (Win10) with the LEAP device built in. Nothing I do makes lights on the device light up when fn+ Space is pressed. The fingerprint reader does work however. I'm running the latest version of Orion and have made sure the drivers are properly installed. I can also see it in Devices and it says it's working properly. I'm not sure when it stopped working (probably when I upgraded to Win10) and I don't have the original installation files for test.

Has anyone gotten one of these HP's with an embedded LEAP controller to work with Win10 yet, if so how?

The last version of our software to support HP embedded devices was 2.3.1 which can be downloaded from here.

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update introduced a change that Microsoft to how they handle imaging devices which basically broke our software.

Fortunately there is an easy fix for this, which you can apply after installing the V2 software. It's outlined here.

Let me know if this get you up and running.

Dan, I spoke too early.

Why when I pick some games to play from App Home like "Drum Air" I get this message;

"To run this app the first time you need to be connected to the internet, please check your connection and try again".

I'm connected to the internet over cable and Wi-Fi.

What's going on?

Unfortunately this is because App Home was retired in 2017 and these apps are now available via the Leap Motion Gallery which is available here. Apologies for the confusion caused by App Home still being included in the download.

I couldn't find Drum Air on the gallery but you can download Airbeats from here, is this the app that you are looking for?

Ah I see. Thanks for the clarification.

I was just trying some stuff to see how it works and noticed the error on a number of apps.

In the Leap Motion Gallery is there an easy way to tell which apps will run on my old set up so I don't have to try each one? Thanks again!

One last thing,

I see some used LEAP controllers on the market, how do I tell which one is the latest, or what the last model was that works with everything?

Example, I just saw a LM-010 for sale but I have no idea what year it is or where it is in the ;list of models.

Is there a comparison chart somewhere?

Sorry for the late reply, in the gallery you can run an advanced search and filter the apps based on SDK, position or platform. For example here is a search that is filtered for V2 desktop apps.

Our Leap Motion hardware has remained virtually unchanged since it was designed. The magic lies in the software and this is where we have been making developments and enhancements to provide accurate and robust hand tracking.

You can check your firmware version by accessing the Leap Motion Control Panel on your computer and then click on the about tab. The latest version is 1.7.0.

To ensure that you are running the correct software version for your needs I would recommend having a look at this link and following the onscreen instructions.

I have a question then. If the hardware has remained virtually unchanged, and I gather the embeded controller is very similar to the standalone one, then why isn't it still supported?
