Endless firmware update

Hi,

Over the last few days my Leap has been stuck in an endless firmware update loop. If I restart the computer it will go back to normal, and the firmware will say 1.7.0. But then after a short while it will try to update the firmware and get stuck again. I tried the firmware reset tool but it didn't do anything.

The weird thing is, it after it starts updating, the log says it is updating to 1.7.0, and in the About section it says firmware unknown. Here is the log:

I am using the most recent Windows 10 (Japanese region)
Is there a fix for this issue, or if not, a way to disable the firmware update? I have unchecked the automatic updates box, but it hasn't done anything.

The automatic update checkbox is for the Leap Motion software and not for firmware updates. Try downloading and running the firmware reset tool from here to see if that resolves the issue for you:

i have the same problem but the firmware reset don't work because it can't recognize leap device. The led is red.
i had tryed with windows pc and with macbook pro r9 2015.
it remain il a loop status and can't update the firmware.
i am frustrated because since the arrive of the package i haven't used it.
Please help me

can you post a copy of your software log and check if the controller appears in the Windows device manager?

I have the same issue. My leap has a permanent red light and I get an endless "firmware update" message. This is the log:

Thank you for your answer. I am using a Mac, so I cannot run .exe files, is there a version for OS X 10.11?

Unfortunately, the Mac reset tool is broken. Is there any way you can locate a Windows machine and use the tool?

hello, I managed to run it in my mac with a "bridge" application, and it has been for a while (20 min)with the message "[info] Resourcehost Running", is that normal or should I assume that is not working?

no, if I go to Recalibrate Device, the screen with instructions appear, but is not recognizing the leap, so the green dot that I imagine should appear for me to paint the screen, is not appearing at all. And the light in the leap is still red

Thank you for confirming. It appears that your device may be defective. At this point, I recommend contacting the retailer you purchased it from for a replacement or refund.

Hello!
I've been trying to run the controller on MAC (mojave) and on Windows 7 (in total 3 laptops) but it stuck in firmware update status.

The log is the following:

Also I've tried:
- resetting the Leap service manually
- firmware reset tool
- running drivers manually
- uninstalling and reinstalling

Unfortunately, nothing worked for me.

What else can I do?

When I run the tool it says repetitively "Device authentification failed" and the resetting tool never stops.

Sounds like there's an issue with the controller hardware. Where and when did you purchase it?

I'd recommend contacting them for a replacement or refund. Unfortunately, they're an unauthorized reseller and we're not able to cover it under our warranty.
