Won't work with apps. Any help?

Hi, I purchased a leap motion a few weeks ago. I managed to download the software and can see my hands in the diagnostic visualiser from the control panel. However, I tried to connect it to Google Earth by clicking on tools>navigation>non-mouse controller>enable controller and it is unresponsive. I've also downloaded leapmotion apps but when I open them I get a picture saying I need to connect a leapmotion. I've tried plugging into other USB ports and switching between the short and long cables but nothing seems to work. I'm a teacher trying to engage students in technology but I'm all out of ideas. If anyone knows a possible solution, please let me know

Google Earth 7.1.2.2041 was the last version that supported the Leap Motion Controller and last year Google announced that support for earlier versions of Google Earth has also been ended, you can find the announcement here.

We would love to see our hand tracking return to Google Earth and I would recommend making your voice known on their online community if you would like to see this appear in future versions of Google Earth as well!

If you are accessing applications via the Leap Motion App Store/App Home then unfortunately this will be why you are having issues trying to get these to work correctly. We retired the App store on June 30th 2017 and these apps are now available via the Leap Motion Gallery which is available here.

I just tried GE Version v7.1.8.3036 with my LeapMotion Device - it still works with this version.
