VR: Make tracked hands visible in non-enabled games? (DCS World)

Hey folks. Not sure where to post but since I had no luck with searching google I at least wanted to give posting here a try.

Please note that I know nothing about programming etc. so please make all replies "for dummies".

What I'm wanting is to simply have my hands (tracked by Leap) visible in my VR headset when I'm playing DCS World. No additional functionality is needed. Is there some kind of application/program available for me to do this with my Leap Motion?

I figure all that is needed is an overlay that can run over the game in the VR display, this seems like something I should be able to find an app for.

What you're describing isn't possible unless and until the developer implements hands in VR. Simply overlaying isn't possible because of how Oculus and Steam software work. There is an open driver project that does a hands-for-Vive-controllers substitution, but the resulting experience is very limited.

@AlexColgan Thank you for the reply! One quick question; if what you say is true, how did FlyInside implement Leap Motion for P3D and FSX?

FlyInside is basically a plugin for those flight sims; it was programmed to achieve what it does.

If DCS World has an open API then a developer could potentially implement their own plugin. However, no app for that exists right now, and it would have to be built by someone with fairly advanced programming skills.

Ok that makes more sense, it is possible but would require a fairly advanced programmer to make it happen. I don't know specifics, but DCS World is very much supportive of modding so I imagine it has an "open API".
