Use leap motion on raspberry

I want to use leap motion on raspberry.But raspberry only has 512M memory and arm cpu, so I can't install the driver.

I think that I can use usbip to share the leap motion device to a powerful computer, use it driver to analyze frames then send back result, and I try it.

But, the leap motion driver on that computer seems couldn't find the leap motion I shared.

I have no idea to deal it. So I need some help.

your best bet is to have the raspi poll a nodejs server for the lm tracking data. the nodejs should sit on a pc with the lm attached

I've heard from @LM_Elizabeth that http://www.minnowboard.org/ might be worth exploring, but I just checked the price and see $200. Hmm.

I'd be curious to learn more about the usbip. Are you doing wired or wireless?

Grab an old netbook or laptop and install windows on it. then have the lm connected to it streaming data via network. you can use wired or wireless with ease. i have the plugged into a laptop and i load my webapp on my phone and it grabs data over wifi.shoot me a pm if you want some help

I've tried it a few times, but was never successful ...

Software:
- Raspbian (http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/) + USB over IP (http://store.raspberrypi.com/projects/virtualhere)
- Windows 7 64bit + Virtualhere Client (http://www.virtualhere.com/usb_client_software)

... Leap Motion gets detected but I can't recalibrate it.

you missunderstand. your not running the leapmotion ON the RasPI...you need it to run on a dedicated x86 pc and have that pc stream telemtry data over the lan/wifi...then use the raai to grab that telemetry data from the lan

The key is Leap Motion not running.There isn't driver on Raspberry Pi. But, use Leap Motion on raspberry is what I need.
I have a way to implement like that,but have no use.

I have a app use Leap Motion, and want to deploy it somewhere.If I use laptop, it cost too much.So I try to use raspberry pi.

I'm doing wireless. Usbip is good way to share usb device via LAN.

hey,i understand what you are saying. Have a look at the Intel Galileo Boards. They are about $80 and can run Linux. You will then need to compile the LM drivers(if u can do that) for this board. I think you can install Linux on the Raspi but its probably too slow(someone correct me?) Your best bet,in my opinion, get a cheap atom based netbook from ebay,and run the leap motion from that.

You won't need a Leap Motion driver on your Raspberry.

To share USB devices between computers with their full functionality, USB/IP encapsulates "USB I/O messages" into TCP/IP payloads and transmits them between computers.

Raspberry side:
- active usb hub
- Leap Motion controller
- Raspbian with "USB over ip"
- ethernet connection to your PC

My PC detects the Leap Motion controller but everything else fails.See the picture below:

I'm not sure what exactly you're trying to do with the Leap on your RPI (there are tons of possibilities, to be sure), but if you're only trying to poll specific tracking data, you could circumvent third-party software and just write a socket client / server application for polling Leap tracking data from a more powerful computer onto your Pi; this would be similar in practice to using USB-IP, without trying to port entire sets of TCP/IP payloads from the Leap over the net. Just a suggestion! ;D

Let's say I'm sitting on my couch and watching my projector screen. Wouldn't it be cool to use my Leap Motion? But my computer is 10m away. I have a laptop with a Intel Core i3 processor ... shouldn't that work? Not with Avira AntiVir, Truecrypt, and many other background programs. I can't compute the Leap Motion data and run an application. I could solve this problem with a new Laptop. Just want to make clear that I have a Raspberry PI, laptop and a high-end computer at home. Now what is if I develop a application for 2-4 persons (2-4 Leap Motion Controller)? Wouldn't it be nice if I send all data to my high-end computer, compute the frames, synchronize the input and finally project my application on screen ...

can i suggest a really long Usb cable i understand what you are trying to do,but the raspi is not going to be able to do this. take evryones advice and use a client/server based solution.

I can detect the Leap Motion,but as you see, no data get.It means the Leap Motion not open, it also need a initializing driver for the Leap Motion on raspberry pi.
