Tracking issues with Gemini Developer Preview and original Leap Motion Controller

I'm having some tracking issues with the Gemini Developer Preview (52386) when used with the original Leap Motion Controller. Here's a video testing the Visualizer: https://youtu.be/ODme0HtOQwU

• At 0:02 and 0:48 you can see, that hands, that come into view, are sometimes not detected at all.
• At 0:32 and 0.39 you can see, that hand-hand interactions are nowhere close to the quality you can get if everything works correctly. (Based on videos online and my own experience on other PCs).
• Throughout the video you can also see, that the offset between tracked joints and the actual hands is larger than usual (at least it seems that way).

I reproduced this issue on more than one PC / laptop. However I also tested Gemini with the original LM Controller on other PCs where it ran just fine.

What is the VR HMD that you are using and where on the headset if the Leap Motion Controller positioned?

From your video it's looks like there is an offset issue that needs adjusting in order to bring the virtual hands back in line with your real world hands.

Do you see a similar set of issues if the device is in desktop mode or do these only happen in a VR mode orientation?

Hey Dan,

thanks for the quick reply. The headset is an Oculus Rift CV1 and the Controller is mounted using the official Developer Mount as shown in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUdL3y-mrFM

I'm aware that offsets are to be expected if the controller is not mounted exactly as the software expects, but this is not the issue here. I connected the same VR headset to a different PC which showed none of the problems I described earlier. Neither the offset nor the degraded tracking. Which is why I believe this is an incompatibility between the Gemini software and certain PCs/Laptops.

Is there any way we can help to get this fixed? This is pretty consistent to reproduce on our side. Let me know if you need anything (logs, running some diagnostic tools, ...) that we can provide to help you find the issue.

Oh, sorry I also missed your last question:

In desktop mode, tracking works very good, shows none of those issues.

In screentop mode I see the same degraded tracking. Additionally in screentop mode I get the same "inside-out hands" as described in this post.

Would you be able to send your system specification to support@ultraleap.com and include a list of the apps that you are using and confirm which ones, or if all, of these show this offset issue on this particular PC?

If you also have the system specs of the PCs that you tried that do not show this issue, please can you share these as well and this will helps with our investigation.
