Too many problems on mac to finish Jam [fixed!]

I'm thinking developing on the Mac isn't really going to work. I got my leap earlier this month and have been developing a game that would use Leap input.

The tracking is quite slow, hands flick in and out of existence, often contorted into strange positions.

Here's some screenshots from the standard Leap demo (LeapOculusPassthrough) compiled in Unity 4.6 Pro, all latest firmware and plugins etc. for Leap and DK2. None of the settings have been changed.

Doesn't look like I'll be able to integrate the game I've been working on. Not on the mac anyways. ¯＼(ツ)/¯

Is anyone else jamming on the Mac? Would love to hear how it's working out.

Those are some pretty serious issues! Can you try using our VR troubleshooting guide? I suspect the issue might be a combination of low framerate and background interference. The guide will help you diagnose: http://blog.leapmotion.com/troubleshooting-guide-vr-tracking/

I've checked the system requirements for leap and I think they might need a bit of an update for use with Oculus DK2. My machine is an i7 with 12gb ram and I'm getting a pretty slow frame rate with all the problems above. Out of interest I also tried the build on a new MacBook Pro i5 with 8gb ram, with the DK2 and leap, same results as above.

It would be great to hear if other mac developers are having the same issues. Leap + Oculus dev on OSX is a bit of a ginger stepchild as far as I can tell.

Can I ask a silly question? Are you plugging the controller into a USB hub or the rift directly? There's known issues with the last firmware release for the DK2 and the usb port causing issues. We recommend using the USB extender to plug the LMC directly into your laptop not the rift until it's resolved. If you're using a hub that can also cause slow frame rates.

iMac has 4 powered usb ports so theres enough ports for the Oculus and Leap, MacBook Pro is a little worse off with 2 ports but they are USB 3.0 - can run without the positional tracker or use powered hub to provide 3 ports (both tried)

OK after watching a few videos of the 3D Jam entries and running my LeapVR on a high powered PC, I have come to the realisation that my Leap is actually a defective unit!

I plugged in another Leap unit and it was a totally different experience.

I wish I had known this before the Jam... it's still a bit choppy on the Mac but not as bad as above.

Is there an on-going place where we can still submit games?

OK scrap this, did the diagnostic test and nothing appears to be wrong.

Maybe I was expecting too much I guess theres a long way to go with this setup.
