Valve has (kind of) recently upgraded SteamVR to have support for skeletal finger tracking. You can see the announcement post here
Personally, I'd love to see Leap Motion support added. I know the skeletons are compatible enough, I've already done some re-targeting in my own personal projects. But I'm not the only one - check out the comment responses in the announcement post. Lots of people requesting support for using Leap Motion tracking with SteamVR in there. Like here, and here, and here.
This would immediately expand the useable software base for Leap's hand tracking, since the new SteamVR Input system is going to be the standard going forward. The best part is that developers wouldn't have to do any extra work to add support. Plenty of gamers on a budget would likely buy a new tracking sensor for these games. Also, the new input system is still in beta and is being formed around the needs of hardware vendors, so now is probably the best time to get in on this.
