Suggestions for use with a steering wheel

Hi, I´m trying to use a steering wheel, a gear box and a hand brake with my HTC Vive and Leap Motion.

What´s the suggestion for using this system? There is a problem when I put my hands over the steering wheel because the fingers lose the tracking and start to move incorrectly.

Shall I use the Interaction Engine to stop the fingers tracking and disable the hands render or is there any workaround for this situation? The same issue happends when I use the gear box or the hand brake.

Are the hands going onto a physical steering wheel? You may want to simply have it so that the rigged hands are parented to the wheel in a standard pose configuration when they come into close proximity to it, as the fingers will not track well when occluded near a physical object.

yes, it´s a physical steering wheel. Is there any hand model with a standard pose in the hands model that I could use or shall I model a new one?

In addition, is it possible to track the hand but not the fingers? I mean, when the hand is attached to the steering wheel, I´d like to track the big blue ball.

It's possible for your application to only render the parts of the tracking that you want your user to see.
