Previous version LP - defining individual fingers

Hi,
I was reading this artcile from attached link, then I found this part:
"New developments include better prediction of fingers even when they are
not in sight and also defining individual fingers like the thumb or
index finger. "

Does that mean that previous version of LeapMotion didn't support defining fingers? It is important to me with connection to dataset which I am trying to understand.

I'm not too sure who put together that wiki as it's not maintained by us. To clarify, both our current SDK (Orion) and our previous V2 SDK support defining fingers. By the way, also, I was told previous LP sensor didn't calculate measures for invisible fingers.
Is V2 first developed SDK?
Has Leap Motion (as sensor, not SDK) any other version than the newest?

Dataset which I'm using is from University of Padova (shared on internet). In this data for undetected finger every measure are null. Thats why I am asking.

The V2 software was the first major update to our tracking software, hence the name "version 2". With the release of the Orion software, our tracking software is able to better calculate the orientation and position of hands not visible by the sensor. Our older software attempted to do so but was not as accurate.

There is currently only one version of the Leap Motion controller hardware available. All of our improvements have been done through software updates.
