Orion vs V2 on Linux

Hello
I am about to start a project with leap motion and I am as much a noob with Leap as one can be.
My project won't be VR but will make extensive use of the hand tracking software.

Now I am unsure whether I should use Orion or V2, also considering that I am mainly used to Java and programming in a Linux environment. Orion does however appear to be vastly superior to V2.

So should I rather install a virtual machine and windows to support it or stay on my native desktop and use unity3d or just stay with V2 and Java?

That's a good question -- suppose it depends on tracking factors. What kinds of interactions do you have in mind?

I had mostly waving and pinching gestures in mind.
The goal would be to easily rotate, scale, translate, brighten/darken an image and to swap it with another one.

So some like scale and rotate would preferably use both hands whereas others like brighten/darken would require the user to make a pinching gesture which would then cause a brightness bar to appear.

You can probably stick with V2, since Orion has no swipe gesture and you'd have to write a pinch gesture script in Java regardless (since our pinch utilities are Unity-based).
