No control unless window is in focus

Hi,

I've tried a couple of control apps (HandWave and Kontrol). These both work when the settings window is in focus but once they are minimised, the apps stop responding to any gestures.

This is a Windows 7 PC with the Orion for Windows leap software installed.

Is there something I've missed during the installation? Additional security?

The only thing I can think of that would be causing this is if the "Allow background apps" option is unchecked in your Leap Motion Control Panel settings.

Does it still not work if you close out of the settings menu completely? Make sure you are seeing the app icon in your system tray and ensure that controls are enabled as well

I have 'Allow Background Apps' checked and the icon is showing as running in the taskbar. It will only work if the settings menu is in focus, if something else has focus with settings open or the settings window is closed, then no gestures work.

If reinstalling the apps aren't fixing the issue, you can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the Leap Motion software to see if that helps. If the issues persist, you may want to contact the developers of the apps to see if they can provide assistance

I am having the same issue. Fresh install and trying to get some of the mouse control apps to work. Only "Shortcuts" works in the background (but not on multiple monitors), Handwave only works if I keep the configuration window in focus and Touchless only works in the browser tests.

I have background apps and web apps options ticked.

This is on Windows 10

There is an issue with the Orion software that is causing this issue but it looks like you're on the V2 software. As I said in my previous message, try uninstalling and reinstalling the V2 software to see if that resolves the issue for you. If not, try contacting the developers to see if they can provide assistance.

I'm also having this issue with Handwave, and LEAP Motion Orion 3.2.0 just updated and installed.

edit: I have "Allow background apps" checked and have un-checked, re-checked, and applied again, just to be sure

Make sure you have the V2 software installed and not Orion. You can check your software version by opening the Leap Motion Control Panel and checking the "About" tab.

I am having the same problem as the previous members of this thread.

Orion does not forward the data to apps in the background., and "Allow background apps" is checked.
- The apps (such as GameWave) work fine when they are the focused window.
V2 does not recognize my device.

I have installed and uninstalled each multiple times. With Orion installed, I attempted to run an app from %APPDATA%\Roaming\AirspaceApps\ in the hopes of Orion recognizing it, to no avail.

It sounds like you may have the Fall Creator's Update installed. Ensure you have the V2 software installed and apply the fix posted on this thread to get your device recognized: https://forums.leapmotion.com/t/resolved-windows-10-fall-creators-update-bugfix/
