No auto rotation with Gemini?

With the Gemini Preview the setting 'Auto-orient Tracking' seems to be greyed out in the Control Panel. The problem I'm having is, that with an original Leap Motion Controller attached to a VR headset, hands are not being detected. (I'm troubleshooting using the Visualizer). If I turn the headset upside down, the hands are detected, but that doesn't help much, since you can't simply turn around the Leap Motion controller (depending on how it's attached to the VR headset). I mounted the controller the way it's displayed in the official videos (cable on the left side when worn).

Anyone running into the same thing? @dankirby can you help with this? Is auto-orientation still supported?

Hi Julien, the auto-orient tracking option has been disabled in our V5 Gemini Developer Preview. If you need to reverse the tracking orientation, you will need to use the 'Reverse Direction' button in the Tracking tab, and hit apply.

Auto-orient was only really useful for people that are changing the orientation of the Leap Motion Controller a lot and we found that in some situations, particularly after long periods of hand inactivity, it's possible that the auto-orient tracking 'flips' tracking orientation unexpectedly (e.g. if ghost hands are seen). Our recommendation, once you have positioned your Leap Motion Controller, is to 'fix' the orientation to the desired setting where the hands are entering the image from the bottom.

Thanks for the clarification. For some reason I missed the 'Reverse Direction' button, so that helped.

I'm still a little sad that auto-rotation was dropped, especially considering that when an original Leap Motion Controller is mounted as described in the official video tutorials, the orientation seems to be upside-down by default and it will be an additional step for end users to configure, but at least there's a way.

To add to this, I figured out why I missed that feature at first. Maybe the translation for the button could be improved on systems with the language set to 'German'.
This is the current translation:

'Zurücksetzen' means 'reset' and to me, that does not indicate that this button can be used to manually reverse the orientation.

Imho, a better translation for 'reverse' would be:
Ausrichtung umdrehen
Die Tracking-Ausrichtung wird manuell umgedreht.

But to reiterate the root issue: I think the biggest problem with the removal of auto-rotation is user-friendliness. There is no indication whatsoever as to why your hands are not showing up. The device is on, device status is all green. Only if a user starts the visualizer they might see that the image is upside-down, but even then, I wouldn't necessarily expect a casual user to know, that that's not intentional. In that case the device really is not plug-and-play anymore. It even took me a while to figure out why hands were not showing up just now and I've been using LM for years.
