Logo and App Name

As previously stated in another post, I am developing a open source app in Unity that uses the leap motion. It will be completely free to use, download and compile.

Regarding the name and logo of the app, do the old rules and regulations apply? (The ones that were valid when the Leap Motion store closed was up and running?)

Eg. Can I use the word "Orion" in the name of the app? Can I use any sort of Leap Motion representation in the logo?

The old rules were specific to the App Store, so most of them no longer apply. The branding guidelines are still generally relevant though, at least in terms of avoiding user confusion. We're working now on new partner and application marketing guidelines that should clarify things.

In the meantime, I'd encourage not using "Orion" in the name or using a Leap Motion representation in the logo for a polished application. At the very least it would limit future co-marketing opportunities. If you have any questions, hit me up directly.
