Leapmotion and Trackir

Will leap motion work with trackir? I would like to use leap motion with my trackir to get accustomed to using it to manipulate in cockpit switches, until I get a CV1.

I didn't see any specification for the frequency of IR light TrackIR is using. The potential for interference is there if both use the same IR spectrum. The Leap Motion device uses 850nm IR LEDs.

Ok. Understand. So, if the frequency used by Trackir is sufficiently different from 850 nm, Leap Motion would work with Trackir.......the software would allow tracking of my hands and project them into P3d?????

I should get my LM kit 5 March and I'll report back.

Well, I found out that the Trackir leds work at a wavelength of 880 nm. Are the Leap Motion specifications sufficiently narrow to filter out the difference between 850 and 880 nm?

I'm told that the bandpass is 25nm on either side of 850nm, so the the TrackIR LEDs shouldn't interfere with the Leap Motion tracking. I can't say whether there will be interference the other way, though.

I havent been able to make it work. LM appears to require use of a vr headset.

Thank you for testing it.

I was really hoping to get this working for DCS.

I cant afford VR just yet but this would be a nice upgrade.
