Leap Motion driver broken on Windows Fall Creators Update

Hi, I am using Windows Insider Preview build 16291 on an MSi GS63VR laptop, I am using Leap Motion Orion version 3.2.0. when I plug a Leap device in and look at the Troubleshooting tab, I see that "Service Status" says "Connected" and "Device Status" says "Disconnected". On a Creators Update build of Windows using the exact same Leap Motion device and same version of Leap motion Orion, the device is detected.

I think that the Leap Motion driver needs to be updated for the new release of Windows, which is slated to come out this month (September). Could folks please take a look and send an updated driver? Thank you!

Thanks for letting us know. Could you try uninstalling and reinstalling the Orion software to see if that fixes the issue for you? Another thing you can try doing is running dpinst64 located in c:\Program Files (x86)\Leap Motion\Core Services\Drivers

Was able to get it working, thank you! Here are the steps I needed to do to get it running:

Turn off Leap Motion Service.
Run C:\Program Files (x86)\Leap Motion\Core Services\Drivers\dpinst64.exe
Turn on Leap Motion Service. At this point Control Panel showed "Connected" device, but tracking was "paused". Running my app, and diagnostic visualizer, did not unpause.
Run calibration, get score up to 30/80, and exit early (couldn't get score higher). At this point, tracking showed "Streaming", and I was able to see Leap Motion data.

I can't get the Leap Motion service running even after installing the hotfix in Orion 3.2.1. The problem has persisted since the Windows Fall Creators update (v 1709).

Are you certain you're on V. 3.2.1? Open up the Leap Motion Control Panel and check the about tab to verify the version number you have installed.

I've been investigating issues on a PC with the fall creators update installed, where the VRVisualizer would fail to recognise a connected device (and any other Unity app).

After some investigation it appears that the latest LeapC.dll has a new dependency on C++ Redistributable 2017, which if not installed will fail silently rather than error. This was not a problem before on version 3.2.0 as far as i'm aware.

It might be a good idea to ensure this is installed regardless.

Also just as an FYI, you will need to re-run this fix every time you take a Windows Update if you are an insider.
