Leap motion controller authentication failed?

Ok, I have had my leap motion for quite a while now. I went through a period of not using it for about a month, and now I cannot make it work. when I plug it in, the power indicator stays solid. However, the red lights on the top of the device do not light up, the software picks it up for about half a second, then the control panel disconnects from it but the power indicator remains lit. Any advice?

You can try resetting the firmware using our tool here to see if that resolves the issue for you: https://developer-archive.leapmotion.com/downloads/firmware-reset

If the issue persists, try using a different USB cable/port to see if that helps. If you have access to another computer, try testing on that machine as well.

I have exactly the same issue, also haven't used it for couple weeks.

edit 1:
tested it on a Macbook Pro mid 2014 in windows 10 pro bootcamp(same windows on pc), surprisingly it works. But I have always been using the controller on my pc, means the MBP has never been connected to it before. It now refuses to work on my pc. Weird...

edit 2:
tested with 3 different cables, all working on MBP not on pc.
un- & reinstalled the leap app on pc, didn't help.

reset the firmware on both MBP and pc, this is how it looks like

...on MBP:

• pause tracking, light goes off
• reset, close console, resume tracking, light goes on

...on pc:

• light off, tracking is paused by itself, except 0.5 sec green light at start
• reset, light goes on, close console, light goes off. no tracking even light is on(while console running)
• click resume tracking, light still off.

Check the software log in the Leap Motion Control Panel to see if any relevant info shows up.

Do the diagnostic results show an authentication issue or another issue?

The original question has the copy/paste of my software log. I have had no luck with the firmware reset, as it just appears to freeze and not start actually resetting the firmware. Here is the copy/paste of that:

And it just hangs. The tool has now been running about 20 minutes. Any ideas?

Ah, my mistake, thanks for providing that info. It looks like the firmware on your device is up to date so that shouldn't be causing this issue. The only thing I can think of that may resolve this would be to reinstall the WinUSB drivers. You can do so by running dpinst64 located in c:\Program Files (x86)\Leap Motion\Core Services\Drivers

Yes!!! Just ran the exe, my controller is alive again!! Thank you so much!!!
