I'm trying to use Leap Motion to rotate a 3D object in Processing. Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi! I'm trying to create a processing sketch where you can rotate, move around a .obj file on X,Y,Z axis using your hands.....

I've managed to get the hand template into the sketch but I'm having no luck creating the controls.

Does anyone know anything about this? or any examples?

I've searched but can't find any example code for 3D object manipulation with Leap Motion in Processing.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Here's a very basic example which rotates a cube based on the x and y coordinates of your hand:

If you want to rotate around multiple axes at once, you have to use applyMatrix() rather than rotateX() followed by rotateY(), etc. See the solution in this Processing forum thread on how to do this: http://forum.processing.org/one/topic/3d-rotation-logic-problem.html

Thank you! It works perfectly. I have another few questions, though this is just moving on from the current sketch, not completely related.

1. I'm getting a few intermittent white flashes, which i'm guessing is an error in my coding, or a bug. Do you know anything about this?

2. How can I add sounds to the 3D object whilst its being moved. Preferably the sound would speed up when your hand moves faster above the leap.

and 3. Do you have any other example code that has simple 3D objects and Leap Motion controls enabled.

The example you sent me has worked so well, I'd love to play around with some more examples.

1. Impossible to say without seeing it happen.
2. I don't think that Processing has built-in sound capabilities. That said, I'm sure you can find a library to import that will play sounds.
