I couldn't resist to wipe off the dust off of my Leap Motion after I wasn't able to find a suitable ... "place" in my everyday usage scenarios at my PC and let it rot for months in a drawer. I never could work out a usable accuracy for anything, maybe my room just doesn't allow it.
But putting that thing on the Rift... srsly, it is so nice. I tried some demos from the dev center and it blew me away. The fact that I could see "though" the Rift and interact with my environment... and see everything in IR of course, was a cool experience.
Maybe Leap should collab with Oculus to merge the technology, at least to some degree. I'd love my VR headset to be able to do plain VR, augemented reality AND object tracking in front of it.
What I'd really like to see is some cool games with it, like ping pong, or just 1st person Pong, using your hand do deflect the ball... I mean, that should work, right? I am currently trying to convince a friend to build a prototype and will post it here, if I manage to make him do it. How is you experience with that kind of thing? Is the LM even responsive or accurate enough in the long run?
If interested, I showcased some available demos in a video here.
