Hi @benglover, I worked on a couple of surgical training tools that utilize the Leap Motion: one for pedicle screw insertion, and another for neuraxial anesthesia access. A big issue I ran into is the limited tool tracking support. Support seems to have depreciated in the most recent releases and even then, surgical stainless steel reflected IR light from the sensor in a way that caused a lot interference. In the end, we had to paint the tools with a matte finish.
I think there's a lot of potential for hand tracking in surgical training but just be aware of the potential pitfalls when working with tools.
