Climb : Tower of Babel [Completed]

This is the idea we're toying with.. climb to the very top of a tower to fetch the Magic Goblet of Discourse. Or something. The idea is to make a rock climbing experience within a mythic setting.

That's a working jam build uploaded. This has been a real tough thing to put together - we signed up for this with only a short time left and suffered some computer troubles - but the final build is something we're really proud of. Have now uploaded extra builds to support the game without Oculus for those of you who have the Leap Motion Device but no VR headset. The game plays out surprisingly well this way, just bring along a chunk of desk space

Here we are experimenting with how to title and create the walls.. we even though about procedural creation, but to be honest I don't think this works in the time frame.

Looking into the Leap Motion SDK it seems there are some technical hurdles to overcome to achieve a rock climbing experience. So for us, creating a simple tech demo that demonstrates grabbing and climbing is the next step.

Here's a screen shot with a bit more texture detail, it doesn't show in a screen shot but we have a falling mechanic in there too. Had a few friends play it out last night.. all went very well. Next we'll scale up the level and challenge!

Wow, actually quite blown away by this tune - very fitting. Sorry for the slow reply. Been working on things. We've got a hold of an oculus from a friend, so been struggling a bit to get this set up. But it should mean very soon we have this demo working in a totally new virtual setting.

very little time left now... here a few shots from the oculus build we've been working on.

This has been proving more difficult than expected, the behaviour from the oculus camera set up being quite different. Not helping at all has been our artist's hard drive giving up the ghost at the most inopportune time

Still shouldn't complain, progress is looking no bad on the whole will see what Monday brings...
