Capture live hand data

Hi everyone! Mechanical engineer here. I am working on a physical application wherein I would like to utilize hand data live (finger position, etc.). Please forgive my ignorance, but what would be the best and simplest way to access this data live into a program such as Matlab?

Likely the best approach would be to implement a wrapper on one of our existing APIs, such as LeapC or C++.

I am looking for a function that can read hover motions over keyboard keys and convert it into spoken sound of the key. For example when hand hovers over letter A then 'A' is said. Please help. I'm not an expert. I'm developing this for my virtually blind son, who cannot use Braille. He types through listening where the key is.

I'm afraid that the finger fidelity on Orion isn't quite robust enough for that use case.
