Cant calibrate the leap

Hi forum,

I have a leap motion that works ok but when I am trying to calibrate it the green dot does not pop up. I have tried screens mirrors light and dark rooms but nothing works. The three red lights and the green light are on. It does see my hand in apps but I was trying to get it working even better.

I also tried windows and osx same results.

Hello Rens-alk,

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues re-calibrating your Leap Motion Controller. If your device is working correctly you wont necessarily need to re-calibrate. You would usually receive a warning from the control panel if re-calibration is necessary, however if you would still like to attempt the procedure I recommend viewing the following tutorial/help guides to give you a better understanding of how to go about doing it.

I tried exactly this, a popup came up several times saying I should calibrate. It does work Ok though but I would like to see if it will become even better after calibration.

I even tried with a huge mirror but nothing happened there was no circle on my screen with which I could "paint".

Hello Kanomtom,

You should be able to calibrate the Leap Motion Controller with the use of your computer screen in less than 10 seconds. Please make sure it's pointing at the monitor (rubber side is facing you) at a distance of about 4 inches (10 cm) and that the cable is coming out to the left. Proceed to tilt the peripheral up and down and left and right. Please use the following instructional video to guide you along the recalibration process.

You can also run a diagnostic testing under the troubleshooting section of the Leap Motion Control Panel. This lets you test for other issues that may be occurring. If everything passes you will not need to recalibrate your device.

Michael for my case, I never saw even the blue dot that should appeare on screen, what should be a reason?

Hello Kanomtom,

Are you experiencing tracking issues when using the Leap Motion Controller? Have you recently updated your software to our latest version(1.2)? Please see below for more information on version 1.2 of our software.

If not please ensure that you update through the Leap Motion Control Panel or download a fresh copy of our installer here.

Improving our tracking is one of the major updates currently being worked on in skeletal however we don't have an estimate on when it will be ready for consumer release.

I have the same problem. Can't calibrate the device. I also watched the videos but they didn't help. Blue circle doesn't appear.

Same problem here. Bought the Leap couple of days ago and installed latest V2 software, and apparently the calibration problem still hasn't been resolved.

I have the same problem. Just bought the thing and it is jerky to the point of uselessness. It gives me a calibration warning, so I try to calibrate. No green dot. I am running Win7x64. One thing I have noticed is that the LEAP software does not handle multiple monitors or portrait orientation very well. Is it possible that the calibration software does not work with multiple monitors? If so, when will it be fixed?

Hi 2 all !!!

Also couldnt get it to recalibrate BUT then....

My PC case has a plastic window panel, which reflected the leap properly when facing towards it wth the glossy part of the LEAP MOTION You can set up the panel (or some mirroring thing) in front of your monitor if you have one.

Hold it stationary and only do the rotate move LEFt RIGHT UP and DOWN.

I am also experiencing extreme jitteryness. I tried to calibrate, and the blue circle shows up, but does not seem to move as I move the Leap. Or, it does move, but not in a way to coincide with my motion. Then, it will disappear and my score will go back down to zero and I have to start over.

I am following the directions, aiming the Leap at my monitor and holding it about 4 inches away.

The problem I am seeing is that even when my hand is perfectly still, the hand in the diagnostic tool is jittering around. It cannot seem to notice individual finger movements very well, and is somewhat laggy.

Hi its almost the year 2020, I think its shameful that you are having the same issue. This is a nothing short of a marketing scam. This means over hyping your product while no real care is taken in terms of customers or technology. Thank god I didn't waste over 2K on the vr glasses....
