Can we give the LEAP just one job? (rant)

I like the LEAP but since I got it I just haven't been able to use it for anything consequential because it's a device that is trying to do a big job poorly rather than a simple job well.

I understand that there are a lot of technical hurdles to overcome but in the meantime I would rather just have the device track maybe 2-4 individual retroreflective dots rather than entire hands because the hand tracking is just good enough to give me a little hope and dreams and just bad enough to dash 'em when the thing goes berserk.

And please reinstate tool tracking back into Orion.

Until then, this thing is a dust-gatherer.

But we may well disagree on what this core function should be. For example, I bought the device to control an synthesizer via MIDI as to emulate the gestures of a conductor. But it is not usable in the sense of reliable. I have around 10 different electro-mechanic MIDI controllers in my performance setup, some are more than 20 yrs old. Some use my feet, my fingers, my breath, my head movement and so on. But it turned out that the LEAP is the only one I cannot use seriously. It's a pitty ...
