The V2 software looks like overall tracking has been dramatically improved, but after playing with the visualizer, I am convinced that further improvement will be difficult without some sort of addition or change to the hardware.
I noticed that Leap has trouble tracking fingers/gestures when the hand is rotated more than 45 degrees from parallel. Upside-down finger tracking does not work well, and understandably so.
I was wondering if the staff at Leap has seriously considered using two (or more) simpler (and cheaper?) cameras suspended to the sides to gain additional useful information for a more accurate result. The software could potentially get away with simpler image processing algorithms as well, as data lacking on one perspective could easily show up on another.
In addition, I don't see any shame in some sort of inexpensive glove with analog wires strapped to your fingers to more accurately (and quickly) determine finger curl at any orientation
I know this detracts from the overall attractiveness of the idea of portability, but as an extra option to greatly enhance overall system performance (At a minimal cost, hopefully [$30?]), I think this concept would be embraced by consumers.
