General PSA for all you DIYers out there (also added to the top post)!

Right now the VR Developer Mount uses a thinner adhesive strip that sticks easily to flat HMDs like the Oculus Rift DK2. The mount also works on the Rift CV1 and Vive, though you'll want a slightly thicker foam adhesive than what's in the package right now. (It sticks, but since the mount is flat and the headsets are slightly curved, a thicker adhesive gives a nicer fit). We'll have updated mount kits soon. Anyone who has already ordered a mount and wants to use it on the Vive can get just about any 1/8" foam adhesive strips from their local hardware store, or get it online.

I wanted to make a headmount where I didn't have to stick anything to the leap and still have decent FoV. So I took the LED lamp from an old LED headlamp and attached lego parts to the mount. A lego spear fit in the screwholes so I attached everything to that and the top headstrap. To reduce scratching I used more rounded blocks for the top.
I want to test how good it works some more when I'm less busy, but it did seem to work alright.

I've finished first version of my new GoPro-compatible Leap Motion mount for HTC Vive today. That cable cover was quite hard to model. I will print and test it soon - hope that everything will fit.

All I did was mod the box it came in, two pieces of scotch tape hasn't budged one bit...must be really good scotch tape. Definitely free

This definitely isn't the best looking solution, but it works well.

I actually designed my own Leap Motion mount out of cardboard, and taped it to the front of my google cardboard. It's very sturdy and secure, none of the sensors get covered, and you can still access the cable port.

Here's the design and specifics:

(Just incase you can't read my bad handwriting, the area between the bottom of the mount and the bottom of the slit is 0.5 cm tall, and the slit itself is 1cm wide)

I tried using plain duct like suggested in the OP, but the vive's curved surface didn't lend very well to that. However, foam is great for molding into curves, so I cut out a chunk of the foam from the vive packaging, cut out a slot for the leap motion, and duct taped it all together.

Even with just an approximated position, the mount has worked quite well. The only issue that one might encounter with this kind of thing is your hands being slightly further forwards than if other mounts were used, although I suppose I wouldn't know as I haven't used other mounts.

I 3d printed a Mount and Used Velcro to put it on my google cardboard for Riftcat Vridge Testing.

I hadn't realized there was already a 3D printed holder for the LEAP and DK2 when I made mine. It's a little different and I kept the plastic a bit thicker for additional strength, and the LEAP just clips in. There's also strain-relief for the cable. Anyway, if anyone can use it - I printed it originally in ABS. Resolution tolerances are pretty good so any print settings should work OK.
