Error in `leapd': malloc()

leapd runs fine there, but I have to start it manually every time with sudo leapd. Also it throws an error for not being installed properly every time I run apt-get as if it just want to remind me how low priority linux is for the leap developers.

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS user here, freshly joined the community. I have both of the above mentioned problems, the one with the installer and the corrupted-double linked list. Downloaded file is Leap-2.3.1+31549-x64.deb. There has never been any previous version on my system, this is the very first time I install this stuff.

How come that this problem has been around for almost 4 years now? Is it that difficult to reproduce?
