I've been trying out some of the games available for the leap. Most of them are fairly short and somewhat clunky, but this is fair since they are all so young.
I've tried:
Kyoto
Telekinetic
Blue Estate
LOC
Kyoto Ninja
Verticus
Autonomous
Out of the Blocks
Debris
Non-games I've used:
Gamewave --- best app so far
Cyber Science (Skull)
Google Earth --- great for demo'ing the leap
While there is still a lot of work to be done to make gaming with the leap more intuitive and natural, the one thing that seems unilaterally lacking is a calibration feature for each app.
Instead of waving your hand around until you find the center and the corners, why not just have you aim at a few targets like many old school 'gun games' did?
Blue Estate is a great example of this. While you get used to moving the sights of the gun relative to where it was, very rarely is it in a direct line from your eye to your finger to the screen. Simply asking the user to trace the edge of the screen would be a great way to calibrate it.
Kyoto Ninja provides a calibration feature, but it's not available from the main menu. You have to pause in-level and go to the options to find it. There is a series of sliders, but with no easy to see correlation between the numbers and how the game responds. There is also no obvious way to restore the default shy of reinstalling the game and losing your progress.
On a side note, this game is extremely hard and very frustrating, but I suspect it may be the best thing for teaching your hands to be more precise.
I'm not a programer or a developer-- just a guy who bought this because it seemed really cool. I don't know if my opinion can be of any help but I thought it didn't hurt to share it.
